Getting Started

How does WannaDate? work?

WannaDate? is inclusive 18+ dating with a real-date-first flow: date seekers browse companion profiles and send date requests; once accepted they chat to plan a meetup. Date companions can send winks (not date requests) to date seekers who opted in to discovery—seekers review winks in their Winks inbox and send a date request only if interested. Companions may add Date Style Levels 1-5 and date expectations on profile—or leave them blank. After the date, both parties can leave reviews. We facilitate connections—you handle the rest.

Is WannaDate? on the App Store or Google Play?

For now, WannaDate? is a web app and is not currently listed as a downloadable app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We may release official store apps in the future, but today you can still use WannaDate? like an app by adding it to your home screen.

iPhone (Safari): Open wannadate.app in Safari, tap Share, tap Add to Home Screen, leave Open as Web App enabled, then tap Add.

Android (Chrome): Open wannadate.app, tap the browser menu (three dots), tap Add to Home screen or Install app, then confirm Install/Add.

After that, launch WannaDate? from your home screen just like other apps—no need to search in your browser each time.

Is this an escort or prostitution service?

No. WannaDate? is a social dating connection platform only. We do not provide or permit escorting, prostitution, or sexual services. The site does not list specific dollar amounts for dates. Any attempt to use the platform for illegal activities, including prostitution or escorting, is strictly prohibited and may result in account suspension or a permanent ban.

What is the age requirement?

You must be 18 years or older to use WannaDate?. We verify age during signup and do not allow accounts for users under 18 or over 100 years old.

What's the difference between date seeker and date companion accounts?

Date seekers browse companion profiles, receive winks in their inbox, and send date requests. Date companions create profiles, browse opt-in seekers, send winks to show interest, and accept or decline date requests. You choose your account type during signup, and it determines which features you can access.

Do I need to verify my email?

Yes, email verification is required to activate your account. You'll receive a verification link after signing up. Check your spam folder if you don't see it.

Can I switch account types?

Account types are set during signup and cannot be changed. If you want to use the platform as both a date seeker and date companion, you would need to create separate accounts with different email addresses.

Is WannaDate? inclusive of LGBTQ+ and non-binary users?

Yes! WannaDate? welcomes everyone. You can select your gender as Male, Female, Transgender, or Non-Binary. Date companions can specify who they want to date, supporting all orientations including heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual, and pansexual preferences. We're committed to creating an inclusive platform where everyone feels welcome.

What does the Date Style Level mean?

It is a profile signal (levels 1-5), not a price and not processed by WannaDate?. It can reflect compatibility preferences for the date experience. We do not display cash amounts for dates on the site.

Can I use WannaDate? without listing any compensation?

Yes. Leave the Date Style Level blank and date expectations empty for a traditional dating-style profile.

How are platform fees separate from what members arrange off-platform?

WannaDate? prohibits sexual services for hire and illegal activity. Tokens and Premium are platform access fees only. In-app chat is for logistics planning only and must not be used to negotiate money, gifts, allowances, or services. Any lawful personal arrangements between users are independent and off-platform.

Tokens & Pricing

How do tokens work?

Tokens are used to make connections on the platform. You receive 3 free tokens when you sign up. Date Seekers: Sending a date request is FREE—you're only charged 1 token when the date companion accepts. Date Companions: You're charged 1 token when you accept a date request. If a request is declined or cancelled, no tokens are charged.

When are tokens charged?

Tokens are only charged when a date request is accepted. Date seekers are not charged when sending requests—only when date companions accept. Both date seeker and date companion are charged 1 token each simultaneously when the date companion accepts. No charges occur for declined or cancelled requests.

Do I get free tokens?

Yes! All new accounts receive 3 free tokens when you sign up. This allows you to make your first connections without purchasing tokens.

What happens if my request is declined?

If your date request is declined, no tokens are charged. You can use your tokens to send requests to other date companions. There are no refunds needed because you were never charged.

What are winks?

A wink is a lightweight interest signal from a date companion to a date seeker. It is not a date request and does not open chat. Only the date seeker can send a date request—there is no wink-back. Date seekers can view the companion profile from their Winks inbox, dismiss a wink, or dismiss and block future winks from that companion. Companions can send winks from Browse Date Seekers, a seeker profile, or other eligible surfaces. Free companions get 3 winks per rolling 24-hour period; Premium companions get unlimited winks subject to a fair-use daily limit. If a wink is dismissed, the same companion can send another wink after a 7-day cooldown (unless blocked). Winks do not use tokens. Date seekers who want to appear in Browse Seekers can opt in when creating or editing their profile.

How do I appear in Browse Date Seekers?

Date seekers can enable Allow date companions to find me in Browse Seekers when creating or editing their profile. Only opted-in seekers appear in the companion browse list. Companions still need an eligible context to wink (e.g. discovery browse or profile view)—winks are not open to everyone by default.

Can I get a refund for tokens?

Refunds are available in three forms: refund to the original credit card (processed by our payment processor, 5-10 business days), token balance credits (instant), or premium subscription extensions (instant). Refunds are not automatic and are reviewed case-by-case. We typically recommend token credits or premium extension first when eligible—they are faster and under our direct control.

What typically qualifies for token/premium refunds? Documented no-show (ghosted) with proof in messages, last-minute cancellation by the other party, platform or product failure, or fraud/impersonation. What typically does not? Changing your mind, blocking the other party, disagreements in chat, or "the date didn't go well." Requests should include evidence and be submitted promptly (generally within 14 days). See our Refund Policy for full criteria. You can cancel Premium at any time and keep access until the end of your billing period.

Platform Fees

What do I pay for on WannaDate?

WannaDate? charges platform access fees only—tokens and Premium subscriptions. These give you access to features like sending date requests, accepting requests, and messaging. WannaDate? does not process, broker, or facilitate any transactions between users. Any personal arrangements are made independently and directly between users off-platform.

What does WannaDate? process?

WannaDate? only processes platform access fees: token purchases and Premium subscriptions. We do not process, broker, receive, or handle any funds or transactions between users for any purpose. Any personal arrangements between users are made independently off-platform. Platform Disclaimer: WannaDate? is a platform, not a publisher. The platform is provided "as-is" without warranties. Users are solely responsible for their content and interactions.

Is my payment secure?

Yes, we use industry-standard security measures to protect your information. All platform fee transactions (tokens and Premium subscriptions) are encrypted and processed securely through our payment processor.

Do you charge sales tax?

It depends. Whether sales tax (or other taxes) applies to a token package or a Premium subscription depends on the customer's location, our nexus, and how each state classifies digital subscriptions versus prepaid digital codes. Some states treat ongoing-subscription services differently from per-use credits. Premium subscriptions and token packages are different commercial concepts and may be classified differently from state to state.

If a tax is required for your jurisdiction, it will be added at checkout and shown on the receipt; we do not currently calculate sales tax in-app outside of what our payment processor may add. You should not interpret this FAQ entry as a representation that we always or never collect sales tax.

Premium Subscription

What is Premium?

Premium is a monthly subscription ($19.99/month) that gives you unlimited tokens, ad-free experience, advanced browse filters (including unseen-only), and works for both date seekers and date companions. Date companions also get unlimited winks (fair-use limit), see who viewed their profile, and advanced Browse Date Seekers filters. You can cancel anytime.

What are the benefits of Premium?

Premium includes: unlimited tokens (no per-request charges), ad-free browsing, advanced search filters on Browse Date Companions (seekers) and Browse Date Seekers (companions), unseen-only filters, priority support, and more. Companions also get unlimited winks (fair-use daily limit) and can see who viewed their profile. Available for both account types; cancel anytime with no long-term commitment.

Can I cancel Premium?

Yes, you can cancel your Premium subscription at any time from your dashboard. You'll retain access to Premium features until the end of your current billing period. Refunds for the current month are available at our discretion in the form of a refund to the original credit card, token credits, or premium extensions. We typically recommend token credits or premium extensions first when eligible because they are instant. You won't be charged for future months.

Safety & Privacy

How do I report a problem?

You can report issues by clicking 'Report Issue' in the footer, or by visiting a user's profile and clicking 'Report User'. Our support team reviews all reports promptly and takes appropriate action.

How do I block someone?

You can block users from their profile page. Once blocked, they cannot send you date requests or messages. You can manage your blocked users in your settings.

Can I remain anonymous?

Your identity is kept private. Only necessary information is shared between matched parties, and we never share your personal contact information with others. Your email and phone number are never visible to other users.

What information is shared with other users?

Other users can see your profile information (photos, bio, ratings, reviews). They cannot see your email, phone number, or exact location. After a date request is accepted, you can chat to share additional details privately.

Where can I find detailed safety tips for meeting in person?

Our Safety Guidelines page covers meeting safely, choosing locations, avoiding scams, drink safety, and what to do if you feel unsafe. Our Online Dating Safety Policy additionally explains our background-screening practices (we do not perform criminal background checks), our definition of misconduct, how reports are handled, and the resources available if you experience harm. We recommend reviewing both before meeting anyone in person.

Does WannaDate? perform criminal background checks on members?

No. WannaDate? does not conduct criminal background checks, sex-offender registry checks, or third-party identity verification by default. We use email-based account verification and manual photo moderation; phone/SMS verification and companion-side ID verification are on our published roadmap. Members must not rely on the platform to determine whether another member is safe to meet. See our Online Dating Safety Policy for the full disclosure.

Dates & Requests

Can I cancel a date request?

Yes, you can cancel a pending date request at any time before it's accepted. If you cancel before the date companion responds, no tokens are charged. Once a date has been accepted, you should coordinate cancellation directly with the other user.

What happens if the date companion doesn't show up?

If a date companion doesn't show up for a scheduled date without notice, you can report the issue through our support system. We'll investigate and may, at our discretion, provide token credits or other in-platform remedies for platform fees. WannaDate? is not a party to any off-platform arrangements or agreements between users.

What if I cancel a date after it's been accepted?

Once a date request is accepted, tokens have already been charged. Refunds are available at our discretion in the form of a refund to the original credit card, token credits, or premium extensions. We typically recommend token credits or premium extensions first when eligible because they are instant. You should coordinate cancellation directly with the other user.
